Recalling a lost suburban station in Edinburgh

            Street name in modern housing development on west side of Brunstane Road - across the road from the site of Joppa Station. Station building survives but lies empty and uncared for. A map revised in 1932 shows that the housing development lies on the site of a former LNER laundry. The station at Joppa closed in 1964 along with Abbeyhill, Piershill, Portobello and Musselburgh when the local train service to Musselburgh (the old town centre station, not today's station) was withdrawn.
