East Coast Buses 20004 passes the grounds of Dirleton Castle, East Lothian

            East Coast Buses 20004 was captured on a November late afternoon trip from North Berwick to Edinburgh via Musselburgh. The bus is passing through Dirleton with its village green on the left. On the right is the boundary wall of the grounds of Dirleton Castle, a ruined medieval fortress, now looked after by Historic Environment Scotland. The castellated tower is a 19th C. gazebo or summer house which overlooks the garden in the grounds. Service 124 (and the X5) makes for a pleasant journey with its glimpses of the East Lothian coast and Firth of Forth. The cross-Scotland long distance trail, the John Muir Way, passes through the village en route from Helensburgh to Dunbar.
