Lower Largo, Fife

            The picturesque village of Lower Largo always makes for a good picture. The pier and Crusoe Hotel are on the right while in the background, two of the four arches of the disused Largo Viaduct can be seen.  Built by the East of Fife Railway and opened in 1857, the now disused railway  brought summer visitors to the village until the route (ex-NBR, Thornton Jn- Leuchars Jn via Crail) closed in September 1965. The village featured on a BR poster in the 1950s.
