Herbst im Eichbusch - a photo on Flickriver

Herbststimmung im Waldgebiet Eichbusch unweit der nordböhmischen Stadt Osek (Ossegg) am Fuß des Osterzgebirges.

Der Wald ist von Quarzit-Sandstein-Felsen durchsetzt, die aus dem Jungtertiär stammen.Die Felsen entstanden aus groben Sanden, welche ein vom Erzgebirge herab fließender Fluss hier ablagerte. Später verfestigte Kieselsäure das Lockermaterial zu einem grobkörnigen festen Sandstein, der zur Herstellung von Straßen- und Mühlsteinen, Treppen und Brunnenfassungen verwendet wurde. DIe Felsenlandschaft ist heute als Salesiushöhe (Salesiova výšina) bekannt. Die Namensgebung erfolgte nach dem Hobbynaturforscher Salesius Krüger, der im 19. Jahrhundert als Abt im Kloster Osek wirkte.
