Rothenburg-ob-der-Tauber: Markusturm on Rodergasse

            This small town lies on the 'Romantische Strasse' (Romantic Route) between Augsburg in the south and Würzburg to its north.  There are several quintessentially pretty towns along its route and this is the most popular.  The town is surrounded by walled ramparts and within are streets such as the above.  It is particularly popular with the Japanese visitors (as I discovered) and, because of its small size, it is best to avoid the summer months.
