            Dice Dijkstra en su Guia de Europa: 
Ésnido grande (62-75 mm) y de coloración bastante apagada lo que hace que resalten especialmente los ojos verdes y la "silla de montar" azul del abdomen. Común en los paises mediterráneos escasea más al Norte, aunque puede ser localmente abundante. Se observa que ha ampliado su área desde la última década del siglo pasado. Se le ha encontrado recientemente en Madeira y su área se extiende hasta Japón y China, y hasta dentro del Sáhara.

Dijkstra says in his Guide to Europe:
Big acid (62-75 mm) and quite dull coloring which makes the green eyes and the blue "saddle" of the abdomen stand out. Common in the Mediterranean countries is scarcer more to the North, although it can be locally abundant. It is observed that it has expanded its area since the last decade of the last century. It has recently been found in Madeira and its area extends to Japan and China, and even into the Sahara.
