The North Tower

            Stokesay Castle, as viewed from the churchyard, in Stokesay, Shropshire, UK. 
The North Tower is in the foreground, with the South Tower on the left.
The castle was built in the late 13th century, and has a rich history, having changed hands a number of times. Notably, it was a Royalist house during the English Civil War until the Parliamentarians successfully besieged it in 1645, en route to nearby Ludlow. 
This is one of the best-preserved medieval fortified manor houses in England.
