Yellow Flag (Iris)

            This beautiful Yellow Flag Iris is the first to appear in my garden wildlife pond since planting last year.  Well worth having in the pond but it is an extremely invasive species and would very soon take over the whole pond.  
I have planted it in a container and manage it very closely. I regularly trim off any root growth that appears through or over the container.  I also remove any seed pods before they drop or disperse as these will readily grow in the sediment at the bottom of the pond.
