Bamberg wurde 1993 in die Weltkulturerbe Liste der UNESCO aufgenommen. Die fränkische kreisfreie Stadt Bamberg wurde im Jahr 902 das erste Mal in den Geschichtsbüchern erwähnt.
1007 erfolgte die Gründung des Bistums durch König Heinrich II., der im gleichen Jahr mit dem Bau des ersten Domes begann. Nachdem der Dom zweimal abbrannte wurde er im 13. Jahrhundert durch den noch heute stehenden Bau ersetzt.
Bamberg ist Universitätsstadt von 1647- 1803 und dann wieder seit 1979. In der Stadt leben, laut Statistik 77.179 Menschen.
Bamberg liegt an der Regnitz, der in den Main- Donau-Kanal mündet. Die Häuser die auf dem Foto zu sehen sind, wurden direkt an das Flussufer gebaut, das Viertel wird auch Klein-Venedig von Bamberg genannt.

Bamberg was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1993. The Franconian town of Bamberg was first mentioned in history books in 902.
