KCS 2022, CP 2292, 5025 8WWA-19 Hubbleton, WI. JUL 19, 2025

            It has been several decades since I have seen this locomotive. As a younger fella, I rode this unit many times on The Milwaukee Road's patrol when it came to my hometown of Oconomowoc to service local customers. The KCS 2022 started it's career as Milwaukee Road GP38-2 354, built in May 1973.  The last time I had seen it, it was wearing Milwaukee Road paint and numbered 354 before being vandalized with black patch paint in 1985 and being renumbered to SOO 4504. In January 1989, the SOO 4504 and four mates were sold to Wisconsin Central's Oxford Leasing Co., and sent to Livingston, Montana for rebuilding. In October 1989, the unit, along with it's four mates (4500,4501, 4502, 4503, 4505), were sold to the Kansas City Southern. The KCS renumbered the former 354 to KCS 4027, which it would wear for many years. Here, the former Milwaukee Road locomotive is back on home rails west of Watertown, on trackage now owned by the Wisconsin & Southern Railroad, now working for the CPKC.
