Family Photo Found in a Shoe Box - a photo on Flickriver

On the left in front you see me (*1953) with my great-grandmother, who was born in 1871 and celebrated her 90th birthday. Behind her you see my grandmother, her daughter, who was born in 1901. Behind her stands my mother, her granddaughter, who was born in 1931 and passed away last Sunday at the age of ninety. The cross-eyed boy in the middle is my mother's second child, my brother Peter (*1957). 

My great-grandmother had seven children. Apart from my grandmother, whom I have already mentioned, you can see three others in this photo: The standing man on the right is her eldest son Leo, a kind of head of the family since my great-grandfather's early death; the man on the left is another son whose name I cannot determine; and the woman in the middle is the sunshine of the family, Aunt Elfi. 

The man sitting on the far right is my paternal grandfather, the master brush maker August Bayer. The woman with the giant goitre standing between Aunt Elfi and Uncle Leo is his wife, my paternal grandmother. Since my father is not in the picture, I assume that he took this photo. 

My mother and her relatives were refugees from the Sudetenland, while my father and his relatives were locals from Memmingen in Bavarian Swabia. My late mother used to tell me that she was treated extremely shabbily by her in-laws at the beginning, because the locals vehemently rejected the refugees. It seems, however, that relations had improved by the time this photo was taken.
