The People Chaser Derecho - a photo on Flickriver

            A northwest flow regime was in place on May 27 over the Great Plains overtop of strong instability ahead of a dryline from Kansas to Texas. By late afternoon, two HP supercells initiated on the dryline in northwestern Kansas, producing several tornadoes.

These storms quickly merged and grew upscale into an intense MCS (derecho) that raced southward across Oklahoma into the evening, producing damaging winds in excess of 100 mph in many locations. The derecho ultimately made it all the way to the Gulf of Mexico the next day.
