Belgium, Boechout #001 Heuvelhof Castle

            Heuvelhof Castle

Heuvelhof Castle was built in 1910 on the site where a small castle also stood previously.  After only four years, the little castle was totally destroyed by a fire in 1914, which was set by the German occupiers.  Between 1922 and 1924, it was rebuilt according to the original plan.

The Boechout municipality acquired Heuvelhof castle in 1966, and has used it as a town hall since 1973.

Kasteel Heuvelhof werd in 1910 gebouwd op de plaats waar voorheen ook een klein kasteeltje stond.  Na slechts vier jaar werd het kasteeltje in 1914 totaal verwoest door een brand, die door de Duitse bezetters was aangestoken.  In de periode 1922 – 1924 werd het herbouwd naar het oorspronkelijke plan.

De gemeente Boechout kost kasteel Heuvelhof in 1966 aan, en gebruikt het sinds 1973 als gemeentehuis.
