The Blue Hour at Puente de la Mocha, La Hora Azul en el Puente de la Mocha

            El puente Mocha, también llamado de los Cinco Ojos, se halla en el término municipal de Valdemaqueda, en la parte occidental de la Comunidad de Madrid (España). Cruza el río Cofio, uno de los principales afluentes del río Alberche, que, a su vez, tributa en el río Tajo.
No hay consenso a la hora de datar la construcción de este puente. Aunque la tradición le atribuye un origen romano (de hecho es popularmente conocido como puente romano), lo más probable es que se trate de una obra bajomedieval o prerrenacentista.

Otras teorías apuntan a que fue erigido en el siglo XVI, en el contexto de las infraestructuras realizadas en el entorno del monasterio de El Escorial. Su función podría haber sido facilitar el transporte de madera hacia este conjunto monacal y palaciego.

Sin embargo, el puente presenta un trazado inconfundiblemente medieval, lo que podría indicar que fue levantado mucho antes, tal vez durante el proceso de repoblación cristiana, que tuvo lugar tras la Reconquista.

Posiblemente, la primitiva estructura fue aprovechada para emprender obras de consolidación y remodelación, que permitieran el citado uso vinculado al monasterio escurialense.( Fuente Wikipedia)

The Mocha bridge, also called the Five Eyes, is located in the municipality of Valdemaqueda, in the western part of the Community of Madrid (Spain). It crosses the Cofio River, one of the main tributaries of the Alberche River, which, in turn, flows into the Tagus River.
There is no consensus when it comes to dating the construction of this bridge. Although tradition attributes it to a Roman origin (in fact it is popularly known as a Roman bridge), it is most likely a late medieval or pre-Renaissance work.

Other theories suggest that it was erected in the 16th century, in the context of the infrastructures built around the El Escorial monastery. Its function could have been to facilitate the transport of wood to this monastic and palatial complex.

However, the bridge has an unmistakably medieval layout, which could indicate that it was built much earlier, perhaps during the process of Christian repopulation, which took place after the Reconquest.

Possibly, the primitive structure was used to undertake consolidation and remodeling works, which allowed the aforementioned use linked to the Escurialense monastery. (Wikipedia source)
