Gunshot on the Way. WWII Tribute. - a photo on Flickriver

            The M114 is a towed 155mm howitzer developed and used by the United States Army. It was first produced in 1942 as a medium artillery piece under the designation of 155 mm Howitzer M1. It saw service with the US Army during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, before being replaced by the M198 howitzer. 

Back in 2013 as a tribute to my Uncles service as the 28th. Field Artillery Commander, 8th Infantry in Pattons 3rd Army in the European Theater of Operations during WWII, I built this 1/35 scale model showing just 1 of the many 155mm Howitzer battalions my Uncle commanded.
Just to give an idea of the size of the figurines on this diorama, they typically measure about 2" tall. That is my Uncle Lt. Colonel F. J. Chesarek standing in front of the Jeep.

There will be a couple more photos to follow this week as I pay respect to our Veterans who have served so gallantly in times of war and peace.
