            This is the machinery workshop at the Lopatyn Briquette Works. The briquettes produced here are made from peat. Years ago, the peat was excavated nearby and transported by train. Now, the peat comes from about 25 miles away by truck, but the railway still plays a role. The peat is loaded onto trains for the final meters to reach the Briquette Works in the established manner.
The workshop plays a significant role. The workers must keep all the machinery functional with scarce resources. They will even bring the motor in the center of the image, which has a broken crankcase, back into working condition.
