Bark Of The Tree - a photo on Flickriver

Bark Of The Tree

            A shot taken basically to capture the interesting bark of the tree . I am not sure what tree it is other that it half looks like a Silver Birch , but I am not sure exactly - any ID suggestions will be greatly accepted , thank you .
 The tree sits on the edge of a large hollow in the ground near to us which is there for the rare occasion when there are severe rains and the drains are under pressure . There is a life saver ring on a stand here on the edge of this big hole in the ground - I have only seen water collect here a handful of times in the thirty plus years we have been here . 
We call the area " Bodmin Moor " because of the gorse bushes here and remind us of many trips to Kernow when the gorse was in flower .
