40106 Rainhill, 26th May 1980

            Assuming all cavalcades at Rainhill ran in the same order, this is my fifth ever photograph. Heavily-cropped as I wasn't quite eight and aimed the camera mostly at the sky. We had C552 from Neath to Bristol Parkway which connected into 47201 on an ADEX to Manchester Victoria, then a DMU shuttle to Rainhill (50883 was the vehicle we travelled in). Return was 51672 to Victoria, 47201 back to Parkway then C556 home.

Best of all, Julie Goodyear (a.k.a. Bet Lynch) patted me on the head. I can't believe it was 37 years ago...
