Due to the persistant cloud & rain yesterday, I didn't bother with 37057 on 3Q10 at Hertford East last night, as I didn't know which end of the train the loco was! 56039 Westhouses SD 240181 (Stabled - take 2)

            56039 - Westhouses SD - early afternoon - 24/01/81 (Stabled only with 16 Class 20's including 075, 082, 180, 196, 013, 097, 162, 016, 158, 165, a single "Duff" & another "Grid").

I can't think of any logical reason why so many Network Rail infrastructure trains run as light engines, other than no one at Milton Keynes knows what is going on & that is very little relaying work at the weekends! Yesterday 6L37 Hoo Jn to Whitemoor ran as a light engine & returned as a light engine instead of 6O36, passing 6L34 the next Hoo to Whitemoor (you've guessed also running as a light engine)! Another complete & utter waste of diesel yesterday was 7M18 from Doncaster to Toton & 7E20 return running with just 69008 & no wagons!

It's lucky I got a picture of 6L37 with it's single wagon on Wednesday, as it appears to be a non-runner today!!
