Steamer Pommerania 1870s - a photo on Flickriver

I do not post a stereoscopic anaglyph version because due to the distance of the object, there is almost no depth in the view.

The Pommerania, an iron steamship, was built in 1873 for the Hamburg-Amerika Line.
In the night of the 25th November 1878, she was hit by the iron-hulled barque Moel Eilian near the coast of  Folkestone. 109 passengers and 111 crew on board. Half of the lifeboats were destroyed and the remaining boats were overcrowded. At first, the Pommerania sank so slow, that the passengers returned on board to rescue their possessions. Than the ship sank immediately, taking the passengers with her. 50 People died in the accident.

Today the broken wreck of the Pommerania is a well known diving site and the wooden decks are still intact.
