Silbury Hill, Wiltshire, UK - a photo on Flickriver

            Seen here with the Milky Way arching over it, Silbury Hill is an artificial chalk mound constructed between 2400-2300 BC. At almost 40metres in height and covering an area of nearly 5 acres it is the tallest human-made prehistoric mound in Europe and one of the largest in the world. It has been estimated that it took the equivalent of 500 people working for 15 years to construct it. The reason for building it remains unknown.
