            The International Association of Lighthouse Keepers launched World Lighthouse Day in 2003, which is celebrated every year on the third Sunday in August.
On this occasion you will get a picture of me today, with corresponding information.

Willy-Brandt-Place with the Bremerhaven sublight, is one of two lighthouses of the directional light line in Bremerhaven.
The lighthouse is often referred to as the minaret or onion dome due to its unusual architecture.
The originally 22.40-metre-high, round tower was built in 1893 according to the plans of Bremerhaven's port construction director Rudolf Rudloff (1851–1922) on the south pier of the lock to the New Harbour in a steel skeleton construction clad in steel plates. Since then, it has served as the lower light of the Bremerhaven directional light line.
In 1992, it was moved 56 metres from its original location to its current location on the seaside quay, so that its light could no longer be obscured by ships. The tower was raised to 26 meters.
The lighthouse of the tower is located in the upper white area at a height of 21 meters above mean high tide. After initially running on petroleum and later on gas, a spotlight has been providing the necessary light since 1925. In 1942, the operation of the beacon was automated.
The building has been a listed building since 1978.

Willy-Brandt-Platz (Bremerhaven)

Der Willy-Brandt-Platz mit dem Unterfeuer Bremerhaven, ist einer von zwei Leuchttürmen der Richtfeuerlinie in Bremerhaven.
Der Leuchtturm wird aufgrund seiner ungewöhnlichen Architektur häufig als Minarett oder Zwiebelturm bezeichnet.
Der ursprünglich 22,40 Meter hohe, runde Turm wurde im Jahr 1893 nach den Plänen des Bremerhavener Hafenbaudirektors Rudolf Rudloff (1851–1922) auf der Südmole der Schleuse zum Neuen Hafen in mit Stahlplatten verkleideter Stahlskelettbauweise erbaut. Seither dient er als Unterfeuer der Richtfeuerlinie Bremerhaven. Im Jahr 1992 wurde er von seinem ursprünglichen Platz um 56 Meter wegversetzt, hin zu seinem heutigen Standort an der Seebäderkaje, damit sein Licht nicht mehr von Schiffen verdeckt werden konnte. Dabei wurde der Turm auf 26 Meter erhöht.
Das Leuchtfeuer des Turms befindet sich im oberen weißen Bereich in einer Höhe von 21 Metern über mittlerem Hochwasser. Nachdem er anfänglich mit Petroleum und später mit Gas betrieben wurde, sorgt seit 1925 ein Scheinwerfer für das nötige Licht. 1942 wurde der Betrieb des Leuchtfeuers automatisiert.
Das Bauwerk steht seit 1978 unter Denkmalschutz.
