"Haunting Harmony of Trees" - a photo on Flickriver

            I hadn’t planned on picking up the camera, but I needed to run an errand and noticed that it was still foggy. The errand took me right next to a cemetery where I had previously captured some isolated trees. The images would greatly benefit from the foggy conditions as it softened or eliminated distracting backgrounds.

I wandered around the cemetery, trying to frame pleasing compositions, and noticed this large tree with four others in the same plane behind it. I centered the larger tree to add symmetry and worked around the graves, ornaments, and benches. Aligning the trees was easy enough, but I couldn’t eliminate the human factor. Ultimately, I used artistic liberties to remove them in post-processing.

While I was there, a funeral was taking place. I stayed well out of sight as did the lone man in the image.he would later fill in the grave after the ceremony. Understanding this context adds even more depth to the title.
