Split - In the Footsteps of the Romans

            Split, Croatia's second-largest city, is steeped in history and located in the heart of Dalmatia. Split is located on a peninsula and is 1,700 years old. 
Visiting this city is like traveling back in time. 
Magnificent, mighty columns, squares, and buildings are reminiscent of Split's Roman era. 
Diocletian's Palace, the retirement home of the Roman Emperor Diocletian (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), is particularly noteworthy. 
And it's not just the buildings that evoke this era. 
Suddenly, while strolling along the Riva, for example, you might encounter Roman soldiers as part of a lively depiction of the city's Roman history. 
To reinforce the historical ambience, they interact with us and tell us stories from the past. In this way, the history of the Roman era in Split becomes tangible.

Split, die zweitgrößte Stadt in Kroatien, geschichtsträchtig und im Herzen von Dalmatien. Split liegt auf einer Halbinsel und ist 1700 Jahre alt. 
Besucht man diese Stadt, kann man eine Zeitreise in die Antike erwarten. 
Prunkvolle mächtige Säulen, Plätze und Gebäude erinnern an die römische Epoche von Split.
Hervorzuheben ist der Diokletianpalast, Alterssitz für den römischen Kaiser Diokletian (UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe). 
Und nicht nur die Gebäude erinnern an diese Zeit. 
Plötzlich begegnen einem, z. B. bei einem Spaziergang entlang der Riva, römische Soldaten als Teil einer lebendigen Darstellung der römischen Geschichte der Stadt. 
Um das historische Ambiente zu verstärken interagieren sie mit uns, erzählen von der Vergangenheit. So wird die Geschichte der römischen Ära in Split greifbar.
