Cambridge market place and the church of St Mary the Great.

            On the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the Bank Holiday weekend my partner was looking after the public announcement systems for a three day meet at Newmarket Racecourse, so a bit uncertain as to the weather, I decided to risk it and tag along. (I think this has been planned twice before, but the previous wet springs made me cancel.)
The first morning he dropped me off around 9.45 am at Milton Park and Ride just north of Cambridge before he continued on to Newmarket. The journey from home had been cloudless, but I arrived in the city centre under grey skies and shivering and feeling very fed up as the forecast had promised this to be the best day of the three. So I plodded gloomily about taking photos - it was going to be a long day as I don't like sitting in pubs or cafés just to kill time - but after about 2 hours the skies cleared completely, so I retraced my steps and took most of them again, including this one. I ended up walking just over 10 miles that day and was hobbling by the evening, and another two days to go!
