            Auch der Steinschmätzer steht in Deutschland auf der Roten Liste. Ich kannte den Namen, hatte aber noch nie einen bewußt gesehen. Das Exemplar auf dem Foto habe ich auf Helgoland fotografiert. Über diese Hochseeinsel migrieren die kleinen Vögel von Kanada und Skandinavien nach Afrika. Sie wiegen weniger als 30g und fliegen in einer einzigen Nacht bis zu unglaubliche 450km weit. Auf Helgoland machen sie mehrere Tage Pause und futtern sich wieder Fettreservern an, indem sie dort massenhaft angespülte Insektenlarven am Strand wegsammeln. 

The Northern Wheatear is also on the red list in Germany. I knew the name but did never see one them in real life.I took this photo of the wheatear on Heligoland. The small birds migrate from Canada and Scandinavia to Africa via this rock in the North Sea. They weigh less than 30g and fly an incredible 450km in a single night. On Heligoland they take a break for several days and build up their fat reserves by collecting large quantities of washed-up insect larvae on the beach.
