Mandarinentenküken / Mandarin ducklings

Vor zwei Monaten hatte ich Mandarinenten bei der Paarung fotografieren können. Jetzt im Mai kann man sehen, dass die Familiengründung erfolgreich war. Diese beiden kleinen Mandarinenten sitzen halbwegs sicher auf einem in den See gestürzten Baumstamm und lassen ihren Flaum von der Sonne trocknen. Ihr Bewußtsein für Gefahren ist noch nicht sehr ausgeprägt. Ich hoffe, dass sie ihre Kinderstube überleben und uns im Sommer dann mit ihren bunten Farben erfreuen.
Tech. Info: die technische Herausforderung bei diesem Foto war ganz klar der Kontrast durch das Gegenlicht. Ich wollte das der umlaufende Lichtkranz im Flaum nicht ausgefressen wird und gleichzeitig sollten die Schatten nicht absaufen. Weil die kleinen Kerlchen dauernd gezappelt haben bin ich nicht unter die 1/500s gegangen und habe die ISO so nur auf 640 drücken können. 100 wäre meine Wunsch-ISO gewesen.

Two months ago I was able to photograph mandarin ducks mating. Now, in May, you can see that the family formation was successful. These two little Mandarin ducks are sitting halfway safely on a tree trunk that has fallen into the lake and are letting the sun dry their fluff. Their awareness of danger is not very developed yet. I hope that they will survive their childhood and then delight us with their beautiful colours in the summer.
Tech. Info: the technical challenge with this photo was clearly the contrast caused by the backlight. I didn't want the rimlight in the fluff to be blown out and at the same time I didn't want the shadows to drown. Because the little guys were constantly wriggling, I didn't go slower than 1/500s and thus was only able to lower the ISO to 640. 100 would have been my desired ISO.
