On the second day of our trip to Kaçkarlar mountain peak, we end the day early in the Dilberdüzü main camp area of our hike. We will continue on a very difficult and tiring route from the southern skirts to the peak of Kaçkarları, from where the mountain lakes are. A challenging journey awaits us on the 3rd day of our trip.
Our climbing trek starts at 03 in the morning, by making a continuous steep climb, we reach the Büyük Deniz Lake in 2 hours. Here we take a break for 15 minutes. We have a snack. The beauty of this ice lake attracts people at an altitude of 3300 meters. This region is very rich in terms of endemic plant varieties and the population of butterflies. Then we continue to climb, the stones under our feet are sharp and constantly moving, taking a break every 50 meters. After that, the difficult and dangerous part of the road begins. We have to be cautious and careful. A steep climb awaits us on broken, small, moving pieces of rock called Çarşak. While climbing, we try to keep the distance open with the person behind us and not to drop a stone. As we approach the summit, our steps slow down. Our breathing becomes heavy due to the high altitude. After 6.30 hours, we arrive at the summit tired. The altitude is 3939 m. In the fascinating landscape around us, Elbrus Mountain, Verçenik Mountain, Kemerli Kaçkar Mountain, Kuşaklı Kaçkar Mountain, Cloud Mountain, Altınparmak Mountains, Ergör Hill, Mezovit Hill, Soğanlı Hill, Karataş Hill, Deniz Lake, Öküzçayırı Lake, Great Black Sea Lake, Hevek Valley, Soğanlı Valley, Kavron Valley Pass and lakes, Naletleme Pass and many more. (The guide, who was supposed to write our names in the notebook at the summit, writes the names of his friends who did not go there, he skips us. 15-20 minutes later, we start the return journey again as another group of mountaineers arrive. After taking a breather in front of the fascinating view of the sea lake and resting our tired feet in the ice-cold water, we continue on our way back. we do.
