            Frederick William Mole, Army Pay Office, Dover, husband of Elizabeth Mole of Hereford, and son of Eliza and George Mole of Shropshire.

The Army Pay Corps was awarded the "Royal" title for its service during WW1. In 1992 it was absorbed into the Adjutant General's Corps.

The original church was badly damaged in the course of the Parliamentarian siege of Hereford in 1645 during the English Civil War. The Parliamentarian forces were repulsed, but the townspeople demolished the church to deny cover to the enemy in any future assault. After the Restoration of  Charles II they petitioned Parliament for rebuilding of their church which had been "destroyed in the service of the State". Nothing happened however, until  early in the reign of Queen Victoria. She promised £1000, an initial £500 with the remainder to be provided after £2500 had been raised by public subscription. The foundation stone was laid in 1840 and the church completed in 1845.

The church is known today for its adoption by the Special Air Service Regiment, the SAS, and many of its dead are buried there. Until 1999 the regiment was based near the church in Stirling Lines, moving to former RAF Credenhill near Hereford.
