The Clarence, Pontypool 14 March 2020

            Looking across to The Clarence from by the former Blaendare Halt railway station. At end of school, a procession of schoolboys from West Mon Grammar School would troop down here to go the Town Hall bus stops to make their way home up and down the valley. Prior to 1963 when the Eastern  Valley railway line closed to passenger traffic, it was possible to apply for a rail season ticket to get to school in Pontypool. Starting at West Mon in September 1962, I missed out on this.
