T Bennett & Co Drain Cover, Victoria Road, Cwm Fields, Pontypool 25 August 2025

            A drain cover by T Bennett & Co. How many times did I walk over this drain cover in my seven years at West Mon Grammar School, trudging up the hill from the Maesderwen bus stop without ever noticing it?

T Bennett is believed to have been associated with the Town Forge  in Pontypool. Another T Bennett cover in Richmond Road, Pontnewydd is marked "T Bennett & Co Pontypool".

The Town Forge operated from at least as far back as 1773, but was dismantled in 1831.
