Coachwood rainforest (Ceratopetalum apetalum)

Coachwood rainforest is a common form of shaded forest in eastern New South Wales, Australia. Often forming a near-monotype, with the Coachwood dominating.

This type of rainforest is found in humid areas, with a paucity of fire and mostly poor quality soils. Coachwood rainforest may occur hundreds of kilometres apart, and they appear almost the same. The Coachwood here are old, around 20 to 25 metres tall. The tallest measured at 28 metres.
