Autumn Vibrance under Okemo - a photo on Flickriver

            This post is a tie in to the Green Mountain RS-1 image I posted a few days ago. I mentioned in the caption a friend and I had turned back from Rutland to find the morning 263 on the GMRC. We got ahead of it at Ludlow and clambered up to trestle level for a photo when the realization hit that we would be chasing an RS-1 from then on out, not this. 

However, the 263 had to clear first and you don't throw away a shot like this. It took them a while to arrive as they had to wait for the ferry move behind us to back into the siding by the Ludlow station, but before long they entered town. Surrounded by brilliant shades of orange and yellow at ground level, Okemo mountain looms overhead with a slight snow cap forming on top. 

A red leader is still a victory on the VTR, even though it seems the era of consistent blue leaders is almost over. 207 sports a somewhat fresh paint scheme as it was semi-recently painted in their less desirable grey and red paint. I haven't been back to the railroad since but I hope to change that sometime soon.
