Flickriver

            The Parish Church of Saint Mary the Virgin

North Elmham is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It is located about 5 miles north of East Dereham, on the west bank of the River Wensum.
The parish church of St Mary the Virgin is located at the northern end of the village close to the remains of Elmham Chapel, a now ruined Norman chapel which itself sits on the site of an earlier Anglo Saxon timber cathedral which housed the episcopal throne of the bishops of Elmham from around 672 until the episcopal see was moved to Thetford in 1071.
St Mary's church dates back to the 11th century and has a 16th century clerestory and west tower.  The church also contains a set of fine medieval screen paintings.
