Alert Chamois / Aufmerksame Gämsen - a photo on Flickriver

            Chamois, ibex and mouflon are the three species of wild goats living in the Swiss Alps. I discovered a herd of 18 chamois grazing on a lush meadow. But to get close to them was not that easy. I had to cross a small forest and it took me about half an hour for 100 m/330 ft. Thanks to the wet mosses on the floor I was able to move silently and eventually get as close as 100 ft (30 m) to them.
This mother and her kid possibly heard or smelled me, they might have seen me hiding behind a tree, they were listening, but I was able to take my shots. It was hunting season, the chamois were very alert and after about 20 min the fled - a dog was barking...

Gämsen, Steinböcke und Mufflons sind die drei Wildziegenarten der Schweizer Alpen. Ich hatte das Glück eine Herde von 18 Muttertieren und Jungtieren zu entdecken. Ich konnte mich dank dem stark mit Moos bewachsenen Waldboden bis auf ca. 30 m an die Gruppe heranschleichen. Für 100 m hab ich rund eine halbe Stunde gebraucht. Das kleinste Geräusch und schon schauten mich Augen durch die Bäume an - und gespitzte Ohren lauschten aufmerksam. Rund 20 Minuten konnte ich die Tiere beobachten und fotografieren, bis ein bellender Hund (leider war es Jagdsaison) die Tiere verscheucht hat
