Im dunklen Wald der Fingerhüte - a photo on Flickriver

            Der Fingerhut (Digitalis) ist ein krautiges Gewächs aus der Familie der Wegerichgewächse (Plantaginaceae), das in Mitteleuropa heimisch ist. Zu den bekanntesten Arten gehören der Rote Fingerhut (Digitalis purpurea), der Gelbe Fingerhut (Digitalis lutea) und der Wollige Fingerhut (Digitalis lanata). Fingerhüte sind bekannt für ihre glockenförmigen Blüten, die in verschiedenen Farben, wie Rot, Lilatöne, Weiß und Gelb, vorkommen können. 
Für Menschen ist der Fingerhut giftig, so dass nicht nur von einem Verzehr dringend abgeraten werden muss, sondern auch von einem Berühren mit bloßen Händen. Im Umgang mit der Pflanze sollten immer Handschuhe getragen werden!
