Maxim Dondyuk: Beyond Objectivity - a photo on Flickriver

Maxim Dondyuk recognises the way in which images of war can change their connotation as they become distanced from the immediacy of conflict. For him, this demands a continuous rebalancing of his approach to documentary photography through which he has come to understand the importance of embracing the subjectivity of a felt response. A response that guides him in what he does and the means by which it is achieved. It is an approach that became all the more urgent when he found himself amid a conflagration sparked by the abrasive friction of divisive geopolitical allegiance as the Russian army began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
