Wishing Well Bound

            My gravely ill wife on a day-outing walk with a son, daughter, and grandson (so my stepson, stepdaughter, and step grandson, plus a couple of step dogs).

The location is Emerald Lake Park on the edge of Melbourne. It has many significant trees, both native and exotic, and abundant fern gullies. It is also the terminus of a heritage narrow gauge railway ("Puffing Billy"). The track leads to a wishing well. I wish she were well.

Two perhaps slightly less common features in this image make their presence better felt the larger it is viewed -- the sense of depth created by the gazing back towards the foreground group by the man and his dog in the middle distance, and the front-on view of the boy's face between the heads and shoulders of his mother in profile and grandmother seen from behind.
