"My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose" - a photo on Flickriver

            In its setting, and with only a phone camera, I knew I would not be able to do much with this young rose, but I could not resist trying to photograph its doomed perfection.

It made me think wistfully of the folk poem famously adapted by Robert Burns, especially the reference to the "sands o' life".  Even though true, "newly sprung in January" does not translate well in the southern hemisphere, but given my paternal ancestry is Scots, I hope I may be forgiven a bit of Burns...
