            I’m back! My transition to full retirement kept me busier than expected. Going forward I hope to get onto Flickr more often. I’ve missed everyone!

I haven’t been doing as much photography lately but always jump at the opportunity to capture my Granddaughter Kaylee whenever we see her. This summer we were at a beautiful park and playground outside Lancaster, Pennsylvania and I photographed her in the open shade of a large slide and play tower. The sun was out in full force creating strong shadows and extreme contrast but by working in the shade I got soft, pleasing results.

TECH NOTES: Once again I selected my “ancient” Nikon D700 camera and trusty 24-85mm f3.5-4.5G AF-S ED VR lens. I got both from MPB for just $650 – how could I pass them up? I love the way the D700 captures skin tones and the 12 MP sensor remains virtually noiseless up to ISO 4500.  Combined with a moderate telephoto lens it makes a great portrait set up.
