如果要票選臺灣鳥類中最鮮豔醒目的鳥，我一定會投酒紅朱雀一票。公鳥全身紅色，簡直是亮眼極了。酒紅朱雀常常出沒在中高海拔以上的山區，並不十分懼人，甚至合歡山的酒紅朱雀有時都在你腳邊跳躍。相較於公鳥全身紅色，扮演育雛角色的母鳥卻是全身樸素的暗褐色，形成強烈的對比。
