            The osprey is a remarkable predator, primarily feeding on fish, which sets it apart from other raptors. These skilled hunters focus on fish swimming within three feet of the water's surface, typically avoiding those longer than 16 inches. While they may occasionally catch small mammals and birds, their main diet remains fish.

Though anglers sometimes worry about ospreys competing for their catch, it's worth noting that ospreys only need one 10-inch fish per day. 

Their hunting technique is awe-inspiring. As they soar above, they scan the water for their next meal. Upon spotting a fish, they dive with precision, extending their legs just before hitting the water to grasp their prey with sharp talons. With a firm grip, they return to their nest to enjoy their meal. This dynamic hunting style showcases the osprey's extraordinary skill and the vital role it plays in the ecosystem.
