A Golden Moment

            A few times a year I enjoy drinking a Crown and Coke and smoking a short, Macanudo cigar on my front porch. Well last night a big, beautiful storm was fast approaching and I thought it fitting to partake in the aforesaid elements as I enjoyed the view. Suddenly, the sun broke through the clouds behind me and illuminated everything in the pasture! I threw my camera around my neck and sprinted 200 meters into the pasture with my half-smoked cigar in hand until I reached this particular oak tree — I’m sure I looked ridiculous. I knew the sunlight was fleeting so I sat down and immediately started taking photos. This was the result. Spontaneous moments of chasing the light and shadow with the added element of uncertainty is one of the many aspects that makes photography thrilling.
