Lovebirds: Bonded pair of WhiteBacked Vultures

            That Look of Love! One of the many reasons I love vultures and am so saddened at the plight they face from humans.

White backed vultures bond for life, and raise their single chick lovingly together. They support their family and help the larger colony. By breaking down bacteria in the food they eat, they leave the world's environment better than they found it- really, everything we humans strive to be! 

Yet, they face en masse poisoning and other terrible deaths. Poachers kill vultures because their circling gives away the location of their illicit kills. They die from pesticide use, and from their illegal use in traditional medicines.

Those human occupants of Africa who have been disenfranchised deserve legitimate financial paths forward to lessen the number of poachers, and also affordable pharmaceuticals so that traditional medicines are not the only viable option for so many. 

It was such an honour and thrill to meet many passionate Zimbabweans working tirelessly to make these plans a reality.
