View Through Great Langdale Towards The Langdale Pikes, Lake District National Park, Cumbria

            The Lake District is an area of National Park in the northwest of the UK. With its beautiful peaks and rolling valleys, the Lake District is one of the most popular destinations for walkers, climbers, photographers and holiday makers in general. This view through the valley of Great Langdale is typical of the area. The stone walls and trees lead the eye towards the magnificent peaks of the Langdale Pikes.

Among the best-known features of Great Langdale are the Langdale Pikes, a group of peaks on the northern side of the dale. From below, this mountain range appears as a sharp rocky ridge, though they are precipitous only on their southern side; to the north, the land sweeps gently to High Raise, the parent peak of the range. The Pikes themselves include (from west to east) Pike of Stickle, Loft Crag, Harrison Stickle and Pavey Ark.
