Almost half way home.... the 1824 West Midlands Railway service (2I70) to Birmingham International at New Street tonight. (Taking me to Stechford). One of the newish BR Class 730's was on this service tonight.

            Almost half way home tonight...
My West Midlands Railways train to Birmingham International at New Street, taking me to Stechford on one of their new & smart Aventra units.

The last few weeks I've been commuting from Yardley to Erdington & back by train rather than by the 11 outer circle bus on 'weekdays', as the 11A bus journey to Erdington has been taking longer, because of traffic congestion & roadworks.
If the trains run on time (which they have in the main so far), I can do the journey home normally in just over an hour, with 5-6 minutes time needed to get through the barriers & cross platforms to change trains at New Street including the 15-20 minute walk home to Yardley from Stechford Station.
Tonight I got the later cross city service from Erdington to New Street after the one I normally get so I had more time to spare at New Street until the 1824 train to Stechford.
