Not long after the Concorde entered scheduled passenger service on transatlantic routes in early 1976, Singapore Airlines showed interest in a Concorde route from London to Singapore. In December 1977 a contract was signed with British Airways, furthermore sharing a Concorde on flights from Heathrow via Bahrain (fuel stop) to Singapore. 1976-built G-BOAD was the chosen aircraft and, while retaining standard British Airways livery on starboard side, received the full Singapore Airlines livery of that time on port side.

As such it was seen on finals to Heathrow's (then) runway 28L, arriving at 14:59 local as number last on 28L, before the mandatory runway change to 28R at 15:00 local sharp. Sometimes not only good weather is needed, but also a good portion of luck, which made this photo possible. Better not to think of the rage if it had been number one on 28R - a good mile away!

After both, Malaysia and India, complained about boom noise and thus requiring the flight to route all around India, the Singapore Concorde service was discontinued from November 1980, after losses of around £2m a year, and G-BOAD received standard BA livery on both sides again.

After code-sharing with Braniff on services between Washington-Dulles and Dallas, for which the aircraft was regularly re-registered as G-N94AD, G-BOAD was withdrawn from use and transferred to New York in late 2003, where it is now on display at the USS Intrepid Museum.
