Tintypes in an "oreo" Union Case - a photo on Flickriver

            During my "sabbatical" from flickr I spent a lot of time on the Facebook photographic collectors pages. I mention there that we had no "oreo" thermoplastic cases in our collection. A dealer I know saw it and sold me this little double case. The cases screws together. and get their nickname from the resemblance to the cookie. They are also called "sweetheart" cases, I think because they would be easy to carry with a picture of your sweetheart. They are about 1 ¾ inches and contain a trimmed sixteen plate tintype. This one is double with a tintype of a young woman in the other half. It has a mother of pearl insert in the center. We have over 200 cased images and this is a case we really NEEDED one of these.
