The Three Dunton Brothers, Stereo Portrait in Masher Case *Update to Image and Description

            A pair of stereo daguerreotypes of three young men is housed in a thermal plastic Masher's Improved Stereoscope with an 1853 patent. The lenses swing out to allow the image to be seen in 3D. Under the flap with the stereo lenses is a studio mark "Broadbent's Daguerrean Rooms, No. 136 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia."

*I realized that I had not added this stereo daguerreotype to my "Cased Images with Names" set since I neglected to add the names that were included in the case. At the same time I decided to replace the scan made from a slide with a scan of the actual case as well as a detail of the daguerreotypes and the case. A slip of paper in the case identifies the young men as Isaac, William, and Jacob Dunton. I had hoped that the inclusion of the three names would make them easy to identify. I did not count on the 19th century practice of using the same family names over and over. I found multiple sets of brothers with the same first names.
