The Jokers Card 2 - Cabinet Card by Duncan

This card is a reaction to another posted card in which two women behind a wall dangle an unidentified object on a string over a couple. They jump back in feigned surprise. Unfortunatly the object on the string can not be identified. It would seem that it might be something like a spider but it is out of focus or moving.

This is obviously a staged bit of play acting for the camera among friends. The card is by W.A. Duncan of Peirce City, Missouri. William A. Duncan opened his photography studio in Peirce City about 1876 and died there in 1918. I have posted a cabinet card by Duncan of a baby as sculpture. This suggest to me a photographer who had a sense of humor. Another Duncan cabinet card shows a girl in a studio prop boat.

I was moved to find these cards as a reaction to AtypicalArt's cabinet card of a group of women in a staged tableaux. Now if people will stop posting such interesting photographs that make me go looking for images I remember, I might get more work done.
